When looking through any grocery store there is always an option to buy organic vs local produce. When we shop, we try to buy local as much as possible and here are some reasons why:
• Local produce is food that has been grown in your area, which means that there are more vitamins and minerals. This occurs because it did not have to be preserved for shipping long distances and the food got a chance to ripen on the tree or in the ground.
• It is usually a bit cheaper because the shipping cost is subtracted.
• You support your local businesses, and farmers. Local farming is extinct because many big corporations have the resources to take out the small farms.
• There is nothing wrong with organic produce but the local produce will serve you better in the long run.
